Buckingham Fountain | Student tours from Travel Adventures for Student Groups

This popular Chicago attraction is among the largest fountains in the world. Opened in 1927 and influenced by Louis XIV's gardens at Versailles, its design represents Lake Michigan; four sea horses symbolize the four states that touch the lake: Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana and Michigan. The fountain operates from April 1 to November 1 and, every hour on the hour for 20 minutes, the fountain produces a water display during which the center jet shoots 150 feet into the air. Beginning at dusk, the display is accompanied by a light and music display
