22nf Anniversary Logo | Education travel from Travel Adventures for student groupsTravel Adventures was founded in 1987 by Dave Snyder, following a successful career as an English teacher with the Lapeer Community Schools in Michigan.  Since its inception, Travel Adventures has served over half a million students with the goal of “empowering teachers to create change by expanding the classroom to the world.”

In 1996 Travel Adventures acquired Sutton Travel, located in North Branch, Michigan. At that time, Travel Adventures was specializing in student class trips to destinations like Washington, DC.  Following the acquisition, Travel Adventures expanded their services to a larger number of band, orchestra and choral groups.

The Mackinac Music Clinics program debuted in 1997.  Designed for band, orchestra and choral groups, this program features a visit to historic Mackinac Island for a private educational clinic, a live performance and sightseeing.

In 1997  Travel Adventures became a charter member of the Student and Youth Travel Association (SYTA®), and the first accredited student tour company in the country.

In 2002 Travel Adventures introduced a unique series of programs and festivals:


In 2006 Travel Adventures introduced Teachers Free & Easy™ and Students Safe & Secure™ services. This one-of-a-kind program was developed to assist sponsors in planning the perfect trip for their students while prioritizing the overall safety of the group throughout the travel experience.

Travel Adventures introduced Price Guard™ Pricing Protection in 2007. Price Guard™ guarantees that teachers know exactly what they will be paying for student travel, even if the trip is months away.  

Travel Adventures introduced The Modern Civil Rights Experience in 2008. This tour focuses on the powerful lessons of the Civil Rights movement with visits to historic sites in Memphis, Birmingham, Montgomery, Selma, and Tuskegee.

In September 2008, John Krish, General Manager of Travel Adventures was elected President of the Student & Youth Travel Association.  Under his leadership SYTA has expanded their membership and continues to promote and support integrity and professionalism among student and youth travel service providers.

In October 2008 Travel Adventures was acquired by the TUI Student Travel Group. The TUI Student Travel Group is now the largest student travel company in North America.

In January 2009 Travel Adventures arranged a historic tour for the Presidential Inauguration of Barack Obama. Over 1,600 students and adults traveled to Washington, DC. Participants witnessed the Inauguration ceremony on the National Mall and concluded their memorable day by cruising down the Potomac River and dancing at their very own Inaugural Ball.

In May of 2009 Travel Adventures launched the most comprehensive website in the student tour industry. With a new look and feel the website is filled with valuable teacher resources and the latest in technological advances.
